Mostly Bi (a.k.a Rain or Jeong JiHoon) fans populated the Hawaii courtroom on Monday, March 16, 2009, which is why this little Wonder Girls-related tidbit got lost in the hype of the court trial.
Luckily, a good Bi-fan friend passed me on the news for this wgjjang exclusive. Here’s a hint as to what it was:
According to JYPE’s vice president and chief financial officer, Byeon SangBong, the Wonder Girls are a highly successful five-member girl group in South Korea. They recently had a great concert in Thailand, and also held three more concerts in the United States.
The success of the U.S. concert tour was so great that JYPE received an offer from the popular Disney-sponsored U.S. group Jonas Brothers to tour with them.
It was not explained as to who made the offer or how official the offer was (made in passing? phone call? contract offered?), but JYPE’s CFO Byeon said that there was an offer.

I waited a whole week before posting this because I wanted to make sure that no one else had the news. What do you think? According to my friend, it sounded like Byeon was saying that how successful the WG U.S. concerts were could be judged by this Jonas Brothers offer. It would be an interesting concert… I’m not a huge Jonas Brothers fan, but to see the Wonder Girls? I’d risk the teeny-bopper crowds.
I’ll be posting all week while I’m recovering from Spring Break. Haha! Next up is a little more WG news relating to their training lives that was revealed in Bi’s court trial. I’m encoding all my subbed videos now while I do some cleaning up today.

JYP mentioned during the US concert that WG was going to open for a #1 artist… I must admit I was hoping for someone different than Jonas Brothers so that they would get a more diverse base of exposure.
However, that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t go… I’ll just leave early after WG and stalk the backdoor or something 😉

great news…though not a fan of jo brothers (omg~~)…that’s a great crowd for them …that’s where the money is at, disney.
I’m not a fan of the JoBros either, but think of the exposure they’ll get! Wonder Girls music is catchy and quite poppy so it seems like the perfect music for the Jonas Brothers’ audience (ie. preteenage girls).
This could help their American debut a lot!
woah. as much… as I’m not a fan of the jonas brothers, if the Wonder Girls got Disney’d… that would be fantastic for the merge into the American market. Oi. maybe this means i’m going to end up a a JonasBros fan.

As much as Disney would aid them in getting popular in America, I kind of hope… Disney doesn’t work its way into being their label in America (…does JYPE cover the US market too?). I’d rather not see them get bashed on by the folks who bash Disneystuff (primarily music artists, i’d say).

But I agree, it is huge publicity, like HUGE. But looking at the majority of Wonderful’s ages I don’t think Jonas Brothers would be the best crowd to show their music too though, the audience of the Jonas Brothers seems to be middle school girls…and most Wonderfuls seem to be 17+. I’d still go to the concerts only for the Wonder Girls. I was hoping for another pop artist though…

The jonas brothers are alrights, their fans are a bit on the younger side but they do have teen-younger adult fans also just like wonder girls. I don’t want them to go on tour, I feel like they would be neglecting their korean fans =/ but I mean it would be great…I would miss them though 😦
